Malar Kalia, BSc, DMD, General Dentist
Meet Dr. Kalia In Edmonton
Dr. Malar Kalia graduated from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree, and then earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Manitoba. Prior to moving to Edmonton with her husband, Dr. Kalia gained experience at a large group practice in the Greater Toronto Area. She then spent two years practicing in North Edmonton before moving closer to home to work at Yellowbird Dental. Dr Kalia is currently a clinical instructor at the University of Alberta Faculty of Dentistry, Pediatric Department.
Dr. Kalia’s adventurous spirit is evident in all she does. She is very excited to bring the latest technology and techniques to Yellowbird Dental. Dr. Kalia’s warm, fun, and friendly personality shines through with each patient she meets. She is passionate about life and dentistry. Building long-term relationships with Yellowbird Dental patients is her personal goal.
Dr. Kalia loves to travel and spend time hiking in the mountains!
Michael Nawrot, BMedSci, DDS, General Dentist
Meet Dr. Michael Nawrot
Dr. Michael Nawrot earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Alberta School of Dentistry. Born and raised in Vegreville, Alberta, he is delighted to be serving his adopted hometown as a dentist in Edmonton as a member of the Yellowbird Dental team. He has participated in two Kindness In Action trips to Nicaragua and Guatemala – a non-profit organization that provides dental healthcare to underprivileged countries around the world.
When he is not in the office, Dr. Nawrot spends most of his time pursuing his other interests – like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, where he has earned his blue belt. He relishes time in the great outdoors - downhill skiing in the winter and wakeskating on the lake in the summer. Dr. Nawrot is also an avid music enthusiast, holding a contemporary music diploma from Grant MacEwan. His talents include voice, drums, piano, and guitar. Listen closely and you may hear him humming his favourite tunes in the office!

Lee-Anne, Patient & Scheduling Coordinator
Lee-Anne is a graduate of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology Dental Assisting Program. She brings many years of experience both to clinical assisting and to the front desk. Lee-Anne has been with Yellowbird Dental for a long time and has had the opportunity to care for generations of fantastic Yellowbird Dental patients and families. Building long-term relationships with patients is what fuels Lee-Anne’s obvious passion for caring for people. She works closely with our the Yellowbird Dental family to make sure that everyone is truly cared for to the highest levels, whether it is maximizing your insurance benefit or simply listening to your concerns. Lee-Anne enjoys life and thrives on interacting with the great patients of Yellowbird Dental.
When not in the office caring for patients, Lee-Anne enjoys cooking, gardening, and time at the lake spent with family, friends, and her three Yorkshire terriers.
Brandy, Registered Dental Hygienist
Brandy graduated from the University of Alberta in 2004 with both her Diploma of Dental Hygiene and a Bachelor of Science degree. She has her certification in Local Anaesthetics from the University of Alberta and Advanced Periodontal Training from the University of Michigan. Brandy has diode laser training from the World Clinical Laser Institute. As a dental hygienist, Brandy’s focus is on providing friendly, high-quality care to her patients and educating them on how to maintain good oral health. She is committed to making your dental hygiene appointments a comfortable and positive experience.
Brandy’s part-time practice in our office allows her to spend valuable time with her children, volunteering at school and attending their activities. When she finds time for herself, you may find her reading, enjoying a session of yoga, or savouring a warm chai tea.
Karla, Receptionist
Karla was raised in Edmonton, Alberta. Her family is very important to her, and she spends as much time with them as possible.
Karla started as a sterilization technician at Yellowbird Dental and has since found that she enjoys being a receptionist. She loves connecting with everyone that comes to the office and helps them to the best of her ability. She provides support to the team in caring for all our patients.
In her spare time, Karla loves trying the different cuisines Edmonton has to offer. Ask her what her recommendations are for new and upcoming local eats the next time you visit!
Holly, Dental Assistant
Holly completed her diploma in dental assisting at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Edmonton. She grew up in a large family in Sherwood Park, Alberta.
Holly loves the work she does at Yellowbird Dental. She finds that she enjoys both the hands-on aspects of dentistry and the science behind the various procedures we perform. Her goal is to provide every patient with a positive experience when they visit our office. When not at work, Holly enjoys practicing the piano, watering her many house plants and going for walks.
Kaitlin, Dental Hygienist
Kaitlin graduated from the University of Alberta in 2010 with her Diploma of Dental Hygiene and Bachelor of Science degree. As a dental hygienist, she has been focused on providing friendly and comfortable treatment with an aim to put you at ease and make sure you feel heard. She loves to help meet you where you're at and work together to achieve your best oral health care. She especially enjoys working with children.
When she isn't at work, Kaitlin loves to spend time with her family, watch live theatre, brunch, and travel the world. If you need help planning a trip to Disneyland, she's the one to ask!
